Climate Change Mitigation

Climate change mitigation involves implementing strategies and actions aimed at reducing or preventing the emission of greenhouse gases (GHGs) into the atmosphere, thereby limiting the magnitude of future climate change. This encompasses a wide range of activities, including:

  • Reducing Emissions at the Source: Implementing cleaner production processes, enhancing energy efficiency, and transitioning to renewable energy sources to decrease GHG emissions from sectors such as energy, industry, transportation, and agriculture.
  • Enhancing Carbon Sinks: Protecting and expanding forests, wetlands, and other natural ecosystems that absorb and store CO2 from the atmosphere.
